Fort Atkinson USA Meet Saturday

Dear TIDE Families,
This Saturday, November 15, brings our second meet of the short course season. We will be swimming in Fort Atkinson, at the Ft. Atkinson High School. The address is:
Ft Atkinson High School
925 Lexington Blvd.
Ft. Atkinson, WI 53538.
This meet will be a two-session meet with the 10 and under swimmers swimming in the early morning, 11 and over swimmers will begin closer to 12noon. Here is the approximate time line:

8:00am - 9:00am - Warmups for session 1 (10 and under)
9:05am:  Session 1 begins
Approximately 11:10am:  Session one ends
Approximately 11:15am-12:15pm:  Warmups for session two (11 and over)
Approximately 12:15 noon:  Session two begins
Please have your 10 and under swimmers on deck no later than 7:45am. For the 11 and older group, please plan to be at the pool NO LATER THAN 11:00am. Based on the entries, I expect the afternoon session to be done before 4:00pm.
This is a relatively new facility, thus they request that no food or drink (other than water) be allowed on the pool deck. Concessions will be available. If you would like to bring healthy snacks for your swimmers during the meet, please be sure that they take the food to the designated areas to consume. That being said, be mindful that the swimmers are responsible to be in the pool area when it is their time to swim. I expect this to be a fairly fast moving meet, so it will be important to pay attention to timing.
TIDE CAPS!!! Yes, I hope to have them on Friday!! If the shipment has arrived, I will bring some to the pool Friday night and also to the meet on Saturday. The latex caps will sell for $3.50 each and the silicon for $9.00 each.
I am excited to see how all our swimmers do this weekend! If I receive a heet sheet prior to the meet, I will forward a copy to you. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
See you at the pool,

Kathy and your TIDE Coaches

Record Day for TIDE Women

It was a very fast day at the BMHS Natatorium today. Every team in the meet had a good day. But Beloit had an outstanding day!!

Beloit finished 9th in the 15 team WIAA Sectional State Qualifying meet, but that does not show how great these Ladies swam. The Beloit Sectional is one of the two fastest sectionals in the state.

The team swam 30 for 30 life-time or season best swims. This included setting 4 Varsity records, 3 Freshman records and many All-Time Top Times in school history.

The TIDE started out the day finishing 7th in the 200 Medley Relay breaking the 23 year old school record with a time of 1:56.24, with the team of Olivia Makinen (9), Grace Roegner(11), Jackie Townshend (12), and Maggie Gianvecchio(11).

WIAA State Cuts

2014 Girls Swimming & Diving
Qualifying Standards
DIVISION 1
Diving - 401.30
200 Yard Medley Relay - 1:52.56
200 Yard Freestyle - 1:57.28*
200 Yard Individual Medley - 2:12.93
50 Yard Freestyle - 24.78
100 Yard Butterfly - 59.56
100 Yard Freestyle - 54.38
500 Yard Freestyle - 5:15.92
200 Yard Freestyle Relay - 1:41.43
100 Yard Backstroke - 59.77*
100 Yard Breaststroke - 1:08.81
400 Yard Freestyle Relay - 3:42.21

You look at those cuts you go WOW, what does it take for us to get back there.

Well, after talking to most of you, and looking at what we are doing with the swim program at the club level. We now have opportunities that we did not have in the past. Also most of you are doing the right things. swimming, lifting, invested athlete, strength and conditioning class.

But we need to set our goals higher, beyond the state cuts and start swimming and lifting more. Thats were our new club comes in. We have good coaches at all levels, we have great facilities, our own strength room in the pool, as well as the new center. Does this mean I can't do other sports?? Absolutely not, but find your self working at getting stronger and swimming as much as you can.
Fitness is so important, we can not get complacent.

So Take some time off, reset your mind, and goals. If you want it bad enough you will work and dedicate your self for excellences.
